How to Set Up the OneKey Pro 2: Step-by-Step Guide
Share
This guide covers the complete OneKey Pro 2 setup from the first power-on through connecting to the app. The steps below follow what you actually see on the device screen in order. If you have not unboxed yet, the unboxing article covers what is in the launch bundle.
The video version of the setup is below. Written breakdown follows.
Step 1: Start Screen -- Mobile or Desktop
Press the side button to power on. The first boot takes about 7 seconds. After the OneKey logo, you get the language selector and then a screen asking whether you want to set up on mobile or desktop. Most people will pick mobile. Pick whichever matches how you plan to use the wallet day to day.

Step 2: Get the OneKey App
After choosing mobile, the device shows a QR code. This goes directly to OneKey's own download page. Scan it with your phone and download the app from there. Do not search the app store yourself -- fake wallet apps exist and a wrong download is a serious risk. The device will wait at this screen until you are ready to continue.

Step 3: Set Your PIN
Set a PIN on the device. Pick something you will remember but that is not obvious. Do not use a birthday or a simple sequence. The PIN is your fallback if the fingerprint does not work, and it is the only protection if someone physically picks up the device.

Step 4: Fingerprint Unlock
After the PIN, the device asks if you want to enable fingerprint unlock. The side power button has a 508 DPI capacitive fingerprint sensor built in. Rest your finger on the button during enrollment -- do not press hard, just rest it. Pressing too hard during enrollment causes a partial read that fails at unlock. You can skip fingerprint now and enable it later in the device settings.

Step 5: Create or Restore Wallet
The next screen asks whether you want to create a new wallet or restore one you already have. If this is your first OneKey Pro 2, choose Create new wallet. If you are moving an existing wallet to the Pro 2, choose Restore and enter your seed phrase -- or tap the Seedcard to the back of the device if you have a Seedcard from a previous setup.

If you choose Restore, the device shows the restore options: enter your seed words manually, restore from a Seedcard, or restore from a QR code backup. The numbered steps below continue from Create new wallet.

Step 6: Backup Options
When creating a new wallet, the device shows the backup options. You can choose a 12, 18, or 24-word seed phrase. There is also a 20-word single-share option and a multi-share split where you divide the seed across multiple shares and need a minimum number of them to recover.

Before generating the seed, the Pro 2 offers to show you the entropy source it used. You can export it and verify the randomness yourself. This is the practical version of the open-source claim: you can check the source of the key, not just take the company's word for it. Most people skip this step, but it is there.
Step 7: Write Down Your Seed
The device shows your seed words one by one. Write them down on one of the included recovery sheets in the exact order shown. The device then asks you to confirm them by selecting specific words in sequence. Do not skip the confirmation -- it is how you catch a writing mistake before the device moves on and the words are no longer shown.

Step 8: Set Up the Seedcard
After confirming your seed words, the device prompts you to pair the Seedcard. The Seedcard is an encrypted backup of your recovery phrase on a card included in the launch bundle. It uses its own PIN, separate from your device PIN.

To pair: hold the Seedcard to the back of the Pro 2. Enter your device PIN when prompted. Then set the Seedcard PIN on the next screen -- this is a different PIN from the device PIN. Set something you will remember separately.

The Seedcard is not a replacement for your paper seed. Someone who finds only the card still needs the Seedcard PIN to access anything. Someone who loses the card still has the paper words. Store them in different locations.
Step 9: Backup Complete
Once the Seedcard is paired and the seed is confirmed, the device shows the backup completed screen.

Step 10: Setup Complete

The wallet is created, the seed is backed up, and the Seedcard is paired. Now connect the device to the app.
Connecting to the OneKey App
Open the OneKey app on your phone. Tap Connect hardware wallet, then select OneKey Pro. The default offer is Bluetooth. For QR air-gap pairing instead, tap the three-dot menu in the app and select Continue with QR. On the device: go to Connect wallet, three dots, QR, OneKey wallet, and show the QR code. Scan it with the phone.

You can also connect to other software wallets like MetaMask using the Bluetooth path. MetaMask will ask for a QR scan when you select Hardware Wallet in its account settings.

Enabling Air-Gap Mode (Optional)
Air-gap mode is not the default. To enable it: go to Settings on the device and turn on air-gap mode. This disables USB data, Bluetooth, and NFC. After that, the only way data moves between the device and your phone is through QR codes and the rear camera. You can turn it off again from the same settings menu whenever you want Bluetooth back.

Setup is complete. The keys are on the device, the seed is backed up, and the app is connected. The device is ready for daily use.
