Tangem Wallet Fees Explained

There are no fees to own a Tangem wallet. The only fees you pay are standard blockchain network fees when you send transactions. Here is what that actually means and what changed with Smart Gas in v5.39.

The Wallet Itself Has No Fees

Tangem does not charge a subscription, a maintenance fee, or a monthly access fee. You buy the cards once and that is it. There are no fees to add tokens to your wallet, no fees to receive funds, and no fees to just hold assets on the card.

Network Fees (Gas) Are Still Required

When you send a transaction on a blockchain, the network charges a gas fee. On Ethereum you pay ETH. On BNB Smart Chain you pay BNB. On Solana you pay SOL. These fees go to the network validators, not to Tangem. Tangem has no control over them. The fees change based on how busy the network is at the time of your transaction. The Tangem app shows the estimated fee before you confirm, so you can see what you are about to pay.

Smart Gas: Pay Fees in USDT Instead

This is the most useful recent change to the Tangem app, added in version 5.39 in June 2026. Smart Gas lets you pay Ethereum network fees in USDT or USDC instead of ETH on supported networks. So if you withdraw USDT from an exchange to your Tangem wallet and you have zero ETH for gas, you can still send the USDT without buying ETH first. The fee is deducted from your USDT balance instead.

Smart Gas works on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Base. It does not work on all networks yet, and for networks like Solana or Bitcoin you still pay fees in the native token. But for the most common stablecoin use case, which is moving USDT or USDC around Ethereum and its L2s, this removes a real friction point.

Swap Fees

If you use the built-in swap feature in the Tangem app to exchange one token for another, there is a fee from the swap provider on top of the network gas fee. The Tangem app shows you the full swap details including the fee and the exchange rate before you confirm. Swaps are optional, so this only applies if you use that specific feature.

Summary

No wallet fees. Network fees are the only thing you pay when sending, and Smart Gas on v5.39 lets you pay those in USDT on Ethereum and compatible chains instead of needing ETH in your wallet. If you are mainly holding stablecoins and moving them around Ethereum L2s, this makes Tangem significantly easier to use than it used to be.
