How to Maximize Onocoy Mining Rewards: Tips for New Station Deployers
Share
If you’re into Onocoy, the DePIN project revolutionizing GNSS with ~5,500 stations worldwide, you’re in for a treat! As a miner stacking ONO tokens with my Onolink station, I’ve learned a few tricks to boost rewards.
Onocoy’s community-driven network delivers a centimeter-precise location service, and station deployers can maximize earnings by setting them up in a smart way. Here’s my guide to getting the most out of your Onocoy miner, from picking the perfect spot to leveraging online tools.
Choose Your Location Wisely
Onocoy rewards up to three stations within a 15km radius at full capacity, but a fourth nearby station risks reduced earnings if its data quality lags. To stay in the top three, pick a spot with minimal competition. Use Onocoy’s explorer page to check existing stations in your area. There's currently only ~5,500 globally, so there’s still plenty of room. To get max rewards, set the station in a low-density zone.

Optimize with the Sky Visibility Map
Signal quality is important for Onocoy rewards, and the explorer’s sky visibility map is your secret weapon. This 360-degree tool shows how well your station connects to satellites, highlighting any obstructions like buildings or trees. The image below show how a station near a window have more than half of the sky blocked. Moving the miner station to a rooftop pole fixed that and boosted earnings. Make sure to mount your antenna high, ideally on a metal pole with a clear sky view, to ensure top-tier data quality and outshine nearby stations.

Use the Reward Estimator Tool
Onocoy’s explorer offers the best reward estimator I’ve seen. Plug in your location to see potential ONO earnings based on nearby stations and demand. It’s a game-changer for planning where to deploy miners to ensure we get higher token rewards. Check it regularly to tweak your setup, especially if new stations pop up within your 15km radius.
Explore Dual-Mining (Carefully)
Want to double up? You can dual-mine Onocoy and GEODNET with one antenna using a power splitter and an additional GNSS cable. I’ve tried this to stack tokens, but here’s the catch: GEODNET doesn’t endorse dual-mining, and if your GEODNET miner gets damaged, you’re likely out of luck. It’s a high-reward move if you’re cautious. Always weigh the risks, but a single rooftop antenna pulling multiple tokens is tempting! Here's a review comparing GEODNET and Onocoy if that might help your decision.
Final Thoughts
Maximizing Onocoy rewards is all about smart placement, clear skies, and leveraging the explorer’s tools. Now’s the time to deploy and stack ONO. Grab an Onocoy miner and start mining! Want to learn more about Onocoy? Here's all info gathered about them in our Onocoy Miner Hub.
