Which Is the Best Crypto Miner for 2025?

Choosing the best crypto miner for 2025 depends on your location, lifestyle, and preferences. In this post, I’ll break down a few top DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) miners, their performance, and which one stands out as the best choice.

Disclaimer: Nothing in this post is financial advice. Always do your own research before investing.

A few days ago, on August 26, 2025, I took a snapshot of earnings for some popular DePIN miners. While earnings are important, they’re not the whole story. The real key to choosing a miner is the stability and growth potential of the project. Quality projects deliver real-world value that people or companies pay for, generating revenue that supports the token’s performance and ensures sustained earnings for miners.

So, which projects and miners stand out as the best? Below, I’ll dive into four top contenders. By the way, I’ve linked the cheapest places to get these miners in the resources section at the end of this post.

GEODNET Miner

GEODNET is a fan favorite, as shown in a recent poll I ran. Since 2022, the GEODNET miner have consistently earned over $1 per day, sometimes much more, depending on the GEOD token price. This device connects to an antenna placed on your roof, collecting satellite data for GEODNET’s high-precision location data service. Miners are rewarded with GEOD tokens for providing this data, making it 100% passive income once set up.

The GEODNET project is thriving, forming new partnerships and expanding its real-world applications. This suggests stable, sustained growth. However, there’s a catch: GEODNET has an annual halving event that reduces mining rewards. To maintain dollar-value earnings, the GEOD token price needs to double yearly to offset the halving. Given GEODNET’s strong track record, it’s worth considering whether the best opportunities have already passed or if it can maintain its momentum. The miner itself is pricey, so profitability is a key question. What do you think? Will GEODNET mining remain profitable in the coming years? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Helium Mobile Hotspots

Helium Mobile hotspots have been incredibly profitable, yet many people still don’t know about them. Note that these hotspots are only available in the US, Mexico and Puerto Rico. They provide WiFi offloading for T-Mobile, AT&T and are therefore performing exceptionally well. The challenge is finding a high-traffic location for your hotspot. Setting up an indoor hotspot at an airport, hotel, or restaurant, or an outdoor hotspot near a park, can yield impressive earnings. Once in place, it’s completely passive income.

For example, one hotspot at an airport reportedly earned $877 in a single day! The key is strategic placement. You can also get these helium mobile hotspots 10% cheaper using the code nordic10.

Aethir Edge

The Aethir Edge miner provides edge computing for Aethir, a project generating significant revenue, among the highest in the DePIN space. However, this revenue hasn’t fully translated to token holders, leaving uncertainty about the benefits for Edge users. Recent changes to the rewards system also raise questions about future earnings. Joining the Gold tier (explained below) early could offer good rewards, but if the system changes again, latecomers might see less value.

Aethir is transitioning to Tokenomics 2.0 in Q4 2025, requiring users to stake tokens to access Bronze, Silver or Gold tiers. These tiers are likely the only way to recoup your investment in the device. Despite this, Aethir is a strong project with excellent performance. The Aethir Edge device is 100% passive, requiring no maintenance once set up. However, rewards are vested over months, and you’ll need to complete KYC to access them, which adds some complexity. The Silver and Gold tiers show promising earnings potential, but it’s unclear how much the project’s success will benefit miners.

Onocoy Miner

The Onocoy miner is similar to GEODNET, providing high-precision location data by deploying an antenna on your roof to earn ONO tokens. It’s 100% passive, making it simple to operate. Unlike GEODNET, Onocoy recently launched its mainnet and is still in its early stages, with fewer stations worldwide. This scalability gives Onocoy significant growth potential, as anyone can join the network, making it a more flexible solution than GEODNET.

Which Miner Is the Best?

All these projects are high-quality, offering real-world utility and showing strong growth, which bodes well for sustained miner earnings. The best choice depends on your situation:

  • Helium Mobile Hotspots are the top pick for those in the US who can secure high-traffic locations. The potential earnings are unmatched, with some hotspots generating massive returns.
  • For the rest of the world (and US residents), the Onocoy miner offers the most upside and growth potential due to its early-stage development and scalable network.
